GrindingHub: The World’s Leading Trade Fair for Grinding Technology
GrindingHub is the world’s leading trade fair for grinding technology and superfinishing. It covers the entire value chain of grinding technology. Since 2022, it has been held every two years in Stuttgart and is organized by the VDW (Association of German Machine Tool Manufacturers) in cooperation with Messe Stuttgart and under the patronage of Swissmem.
Exhibitors include manufacturers of machines and tools, suppliers of abrasives and process solutions, as well as companies from the fields of automation, and measurement technology. The target audience is diverse: experts from production, manufacturing planning, and quality assurance; toolmakers; and decision-makers from the customer industries of machine and plant engineering, tool and mold making, cutting tool manufacturing, automotive and vehicle manufacturing, as well as metalworking.
Most recently, in 2024, around 500 exhibitors from 31 countries presented their offerings at GrindingHub. More than 11,100 trade visitors took the opportunity to exchange ideas on technologies and innovations in grinding technology. In Germany, this technology ranks among the three most important manufacturing processes within the machine tool industry. According to official statistics, production in 2024 amounted to 1.1 billion euros, of which around 80 percent was exported. Worldwide, the production volume is approximately 5.5 billion euros.
Innovation
GrindingHub is the central platform for innovations in grinding technology. It provides impetus for new products, manufacturing solutions, and service offerings, and demonstrates how precision and efficiency in metalworking are evolving.
International Reach
The trade show brings together leading companies from around the world. In 2024, around 500 exhibitors from 31 countries presented their offerings. Trade visitors come from all relevant markets and use the event for international exchange. With the premiere of GrindingHub Americas 2027 in Cincinnati, the trade show underscores its growing international significance..
Inspiration
No other trade fair covers grinding technology with such breadth and depth. Exhibitors and visitors with high levels of expertise discuss current challenges, megatrends, and future topics—from digitalization and automation to sustainable manufacturing processes.
Grinding as a Key Technological Process
In metalworking, grinding is one of the finishing processes that determine precision and plays a decisive role in the functionality and service life of modern components. It can also compensate for errors from upstream manufacturing stages, thereby playing a central role in the entire value chain. At the same time, grinding is a key technological process that makes the production of high-performance components possible in the first place.
Since grinding contributes directly to quality assurance, any irregularity in this process has the potential to jeopardize all preceding steps. Consequently, the process is now closely integrated with precise measurement technology. Furthermore, grinding is increasingly being automated and supported by digital technologies such as process monitoring and adaptive control systems. This results in a highly precise, efficient, and reliable manufacturing process that meets the growing demands of modern industrial applications.
